LFC Women team news: Vivien Endemann, Lucy Parry and Mari Ward set to return
Vivien Endemann, Lucy Parry and Mari Ward have returned to training with Liverpool FC Women after injuries.
The trio are coming back into contention, head coach Gareth Taylor confirmed ahead of the Reds’ season resuming at Aston Villa in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Asked for a squad fitness update at his pre-match press conference, Taylor said on Friday: “Outside of Aurélie [Csillag] – obviously hers is going to be a lengthy absence – Sophie Roman Haug is not too far away but is still not able to be involved in training. It’s the same with Anna Josendal.
“Ceri Holland is getting a little bit closer – hopefully we should be able to see her in this next batch of games before the next international break.
“Mari and Lucy Parry and Viv are back in team training, so they’re back around the squad.
“And of course, while the girls have been away on international break, we have had a training group here and it has allowed us to get Mao Itamura a little bit closer to being really ready.”
Taylor’s team took seven points from their opening five WSL matches before the pause for international fixtures.
In the Subway Players Cup, meanwhile, Liverpool were 4-2 winners over Sunderland and claimed a late 4-3 victory away at Birmingham City.
The boss is optimistic the Reds can maintain positive form as they return to a run of three games in a week.
“All the players have come back looking really good, really sharp,” he said.
“I’ve always said, regardless of where these players go on the international break, we’ve got to quickly get our Liverpool hats back on and do what we do at Liverpool, which can be quite tough, it can be quite challenging, because the demands for playing for some of these national teams is a completely different style of play to the way we want to do things.
“But I think these players are really good at resetting really quickly. The training session was really positive today, so we’re looking forward to the game at the weekend.”
