Ryan Gravenberch was humbled to have been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for 2024-25 this week.

The Liverpool midfielder’s outstanding contributions to Premier League glory during his second season at the club were further acknowledged by his peers.

Gravenberch, who had previously also been chosen as the division’s Young Player of the Season, was one of five Reds squad members selected in the annual PFA XI at a ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday night.

“Really proud – really proud,” he told Liverpoolfc.com of his reaction to being included.

“You worked really hard last season and the recognition from the other players to be in the Team of the Season, I’m really glad and really proud of myself.

“It was really nice [to be at the ceremony], this was actually my first time. It was new for me, the red carpet and everything, saw the other players as well. It was a really nice event.”

The Netherlands international was sidelined for the first match of the champions’ title defence – a 4-2 home defeat of AFC Bournemouth – due to suspension.

But Gravenberch is back at Arne Slot’s disposal for Monday night’s trip to Newcastle United, and is as hungry as ever for silverware as his own season now begins.

“Of course,” he said of the desire to succeed again. “Obviously when we were champions at Anfield, you saw the moments with the fans and everything.

“As a player you want to achieve it again and give the fans more trophies and more prizes. We will try everything and work hard for it.”

It has been a particularly special few weeks for Gravenberch on a personal level, after his partner gave birth to their child on the eve of the FA Community Shield earlier this month.

“Yeah, everything is good, everything is great,” the No.38 said of becoming a father. “They are both healthy, so I’m happy, really happy.”
