LFC Foundation’s third ‘Kip on the Kop’ event took place on Saturday, with more than 400 people uniting to help tackle homelessness across the Liverpool City Region.

It was a memorable evening for all who took part in the opportunity to spend a night on the Kop, gaining a small insight into the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness every day.

More than 1,500 households are homeless in the Liverpool City Region, with more than 650 of those involving children, and LFC Foundation and Liverpool Homeless FC came together to do their bit for the cause.

Founded in 2007, Liverpool Homeless FC has been on a mission to provide the most vulnerable people in our city with sport, health and wellbeing opportunities. They aim to engage with the local community and help people achieve their full potential through sport.

LFC Foundation CEO Matt Parish addressed the crowd to highlight the issue of homelessness across the Liverpool City Region, before John Finnigan, CEO of Liverpool Homeless FC, gave an insight into the challenges faced by those his organisation support.

Also in attendance was LFC Foundation community ambassador Chris Kirkland, alongside LFC’s chief legal and external affairs officer and LFC Foundation trustee Jonathan Bamber, and his team.

Fan and comedian John Bishop - an ambassador for Liverpool Homeless FC - spoke passionately about the work of both organisations and the need for change. He was followed by former Reds player Sammy Lee, as well as actor and comedian Crissy Rock, who all played their part in raising awareness and funds.

Money raised from the event will go towards supporting the work of LFC Foundation’s Global Works programme, which provides sport-based employability sessions and mentoring for young people who have experienced homelessness, and the fantastic work of Liverpool Homeless FC.

It is not too late to support the event - donations can still be made here.
