MatchThe opposition lowdown: Burnley
Get the lowdown on Burnley ahead of Liverpool's trip to face Scott Parker's side on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
Start to the season
The newly promoted Clarets began the Premier League campaign against Tottenham Hotspur and were beaten 3-0 away from home.
They quickly bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Turf Moor, before a late 3-2 defeat at Manchester United last time out.
Jaidon Anthony has been Burnley's standout performer so far this term, scoring two goals and recording one assist.
Summer business
Burnley made 14 signings at first-team level for their assault on the Premier League.
Among those were the notable additions of right-back Kyle Walker and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who bring top-flight experience to the Lancashire club. They also landed the signature of Chelsea forward Armando Broja.
The last of their recruits was midfielder Florentino Luis, loaned from Benfica on deadline day.
Departures included goalkeeper James Trafford to Manchester City, and centre-back CJ Egan-Riley to Marseille. Promotion-winning captain Josh Brownhill also left the Lancashire club.
Previous meeting
Liverpool's last fixture with Burnley came in February 2024 in the Premier League, when the Reds delivered a 3-1 win at Anfield.
Diogo Jota opened the scoring, while Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez were also on target.

Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts have been sidelined for the Clarets. Hjalmar Ekdal picked up a knock while on international duty but is fit and available for selection if required.
Bashir Humphreys, Axel Tuanzebe and Broja, meanwhile, continue to step up their fitness for the hosts.
What they said
Burnley head coach Parker
"You're playing against an elite, world-class team with numerous players in their team who are obviously world-class talents. So, we understand the challenge. As always, it's a 90-minute game of football and we'll go and give the best version of ourselves. We're going to need a lot of things to go our way, we understand that.
"But we're relishing this opportunity, like we have done at the start of this season. I think that has been the main theme for us really, in terms of relishing these opportunities and going up against the best. And no doubt, we're going up against an extremely good team, which we've seen over many years now. We're looking forward to it."
Pre-match stats
- Burnley won four of their first seven Premier League matches against the reigning champions (one draw, two losses) but they have since lost 10 of their last 11, conceding 30 goals in those 10 defeats. The exception in this run was a 1-0 away result at Liverpool in January 2021.
- This will be Parker's first Premier League match against the Reds since losing 9-0 with AFC Bournemouth back in August 2022.
- He has beaten the Reds before, however, overseeing a 1-0 win in March 2021, and could become the second manager to beat both Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot in the Premier League, along with Marco Silva.
- Following their 2-0 success over Sunderland, Burnley will be looking to start a Premier League campaign with back-to-back home wins for just a second time, previously doing so in their debut campaign in the competition, winning their first four at Turf Moor in 2009-10.
- As a Premier League side, the Clarets have failed to win any of their last nine games that have come immediately after an international break (drawn three, lost six) since a 1-0 win versus Crystal Palace in November 2020.
