Milos Kerkez relished Liverpool's 'big performance' in beating Newcastle United on Saturday and immediately targeted many more.

A fine night under the lights at Anfield saw the Reds recover from going behind to an Anthony Gordon strike during the first half.

Two goals in 138 seconds from Hugo Ekitike - the second via a Kerkez assist - had the hosts in front by the interval and they pressed home that advantage.

Florian Wirtz picked out the bottom corner and Ibrahima Konate prodded in at the end to wrap up a 4-1 Premier League victory.

The result made it two wins and 10 goals scored in the week for Arne Slot's men - and Kerkez stressed the desire in the squad to make such displays a regular occurrence.

On a great team performance…

We're really happy. [We had] a great mentality and a great energy in the stadium from the fans. [They were] unbelievable. I never felt this, to be honest. It was crazy so I think everyone got a lot of energy from that. It was great team spirit, great fight and a great performance.

On fighting back from a goal down…

We had 25 or 30 minutes where they got some set-pieces and we had to stay brave and focus really and head the ball away, because they're a tall team. They can use that chance. But [it was] brilliant from Ali [Alisson Becker], Ibou [Konate] and Virgil [van Dijk] to defend those crosses. We went down but, like I said, the fans were giving us energy after that a lot. Two quick goals, 2-1 on half-time and after that you know what happens.

On the growing relationship between Ekitike and Wirtz…

Yeah, brilliant players. I watch them every day in training, it's nothing new for me but it's enjoyable when people come to the stadium and see these two ballers playing like that! They're really helping us a lot. They improved a lot and they're going to continue to do that for the rest of the season.

On Konate's goal…

[It was] brilliant. We all love him. It's really sad what happened but there's really big respect for Ibou and big love that he wanted to come back earlier and he wanted to train and he wanted to help us in the game. You saw a brilliant mentality and brilliant game. He scored a goal and we're all really happy for him. We all love him.

On whether the performance was one of defending champions…

It was brilliant. It was a big performance. We were all really ready to fight, to run back, run in front, counter-attack and defend the set-pieces. [We had a] great mentality and if we are like this every week then there will be big things. I hope that now we rest, celebrate this and then next week again here in Anfield with [Manchester] City. The fans are unbelievable and we want to give them good moments and I hope there's going to be many more.
