InterviewMia Enderby: I'm excited to show what I can do and help the team
Mia Enderby vowed to continue doing everything she can to help Liverpool FC Women win matches – whether as a starter or substitute.
The 20-year-old committed her future to the Reds ahead of the new season on Thursday by penning a new contract at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.
The forward has been on the scoresheet six times since her arrival in the summer of 2023 and now wants to kick on with two seasons of Barclays Women's Super League experience behind her.
Read on for Enderby's interview with Liverpoolfc.com shortly after signing on the dotted line…
Mia, congratulations on your new deal with the club. How does it feel to have committed your future?
I'm really excited. I've been here for a couple of years now and I just can't wait to get started [in 2025-26]. Pre-season is going well and we just can't wait to get going.
You joined in July 2023 from Sheffield United – how much do you feel during your time here you've developed as a player and as a person as well?
Obviously the staff have really helped me a lot to develop as a player and a person. We have great facilities here, so that helps a lot. The players are really important. If I'm feeling down or anything, they're always there to talk to me. That really helps.
There's a great bond between the squad and you must have drawn great experience from the players on the pitch but also how they behave off it...
Off the pitch we're a big family. It's really important to have a bond with the players because obviously that helps us on the pitch as well. We just can't wait to get started now.
Last season for you included seven goal contributions – five goals and two assists in 22 appearances, 16 of those off the bench. The WSL is obviously a tough league but do you feel like you're getting to grips with it now and can really impact games?
Definitely. I feel like at first it was hard, coming in as a young player and with how big the WSL is now. I feel like I try my best. When I'm coming off the bench, I try to help the team as much as I can – and that's providing goals and assists.
For next season, you must be really excited to get going. A full pre-season ahead and trying to break into that starting XI...
Pre-season is going well for me personally and now I'm just putting my foot down. When [the manager] comes in, I'm really excited to show them what I can do.
You've represented England at U23 level for a little while now – that must help you to develop as well, playing against different styles and systems...
Definitely. It's really hard when you have to go from Liverpool's playing style and then you've got to change that when you go international. But I feel like that's really helped me a lot [to] develop as a player, especially playing against top international teams. I try to improve with that as well.
The fixtures are out now, which must be exciting. There's no bigger way to start than a Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield...
We're all really excited. Anfield's such a big stadium and we just can't wait to see all the fans there.
We had good success there against Manchester United last season. What would it mean to the group to get that win over Everton in L4?
Like I said, we're really excited and we just can't wait to get started. Obviously with a Merseyside derby we want to win. We'll see how we go in pre-season and when that game [comes] we'll show up.
