Liverpool FC pauses in remembrance of Diogo Jota and André Silva today.

July 3 marks the first anniversary of the tragic road traffic accident in Spain in which the Reds forward and his brother passed away.

During the past year, there has been an enormous outpouring of love and respect for Diogo and André from around the world of football.

Many thousands of tributes were laid at Anfield by supporters and visitors wishing to show their appreciation and collectively grieve their sudden loss.

A poignant new memorial in the brothers’ honour has been unveiled on 97 Avenue outside the stadium, providing a permanent area for remembrance and reflection.

The number 20 shirt that the much-loved Diogo wore for Liverpool with distinction was immediately retired by the club across all of its teams.

He will forever be our No.20, our lad from Portugal.

The support of everyone at Liverpool FC continues to be, and always will be, with all of Diogo and André’s family, and our thoughts are especially with them on this very sad and difficult day.

Rest in peace, Diogo and André
