Alexis Mac Allister’s World Cup-winning talents arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2023.

Six months after he had lifted international football’s greatest prize, the Argentinian became the first new recruit in a rebuild of Liverpool’s midfield.

For much of his first season with the Reds, Mac Allister was deployed in a deeper-lying role in the centre, though that didn’t stop him unleashing a Goal of the Season strike from long range against Fulham to open his account for the club.

That debut campaign featured silverware with the Carabao Cup too, the No.10 starting the Wembley final versus Chelsea as a depleted Liverpool squad upset the odds to triumph 1-0 in extra-time.

Mac Allister maintained his starting position upon the appointment of Arne Slot as head coach, forming what would be a title-winning midfield alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.

He was involved in 35 of 38 Premier League games as the Reds won the 2024-25 championship with four matches to spare, contributing five goals.

One of those strikes was delivered on the historic Anfield day in April 2025 that a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur confirmed Liverpool would be champions for the 20th time in history.

Indeed, his emphatic blast from the edge of the box to put his team 2-1 up literally caused an earth tremor at the stadium as the wait to celebrate a league title with supporters present was ended after 35 years.

“Definitely the most important goal that I have scored so far [in my career],” he said at the time.

“I’m really happy with it because it meant a lot to score in that game, the game that gave us the Premier League.”

It also secured him a second successive Goal of the Season award at the club.

By the end of season three with the Reds – which included memorable winners past Real Madrid and in stoppage time at Nottingham Forest – Mac Allister had reached 150 appearances and almost 40 goal contributions.
