The condition of certain Liverpool players will need to be assessed ahead of Saturday's meeting with Fulham at Anfield, explained Arne Slot.

The Reds switch their focus back to Premier League matters for the visit of Marco Silva's side.

The encounter comes fewer than 70 hours after Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final, first-leg defeat at Paris Saint-Germain.

Slot said in his pre-match press conference on Friday: "Yesterday was a recovery day and let's see where a few of our players are, because I'm also not telling you for the first time that not all of our players are able and capable of playing three days later another intense game. Let's see what the line-up brings this time."

Alisson Becker, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni are those currently sidelined with injury.

"It's right that compared to the whole season this is the best period of time when it comes to players available," said the head coach.

"But if I go away from here and I go into my office, I'm looking at my list, I'm seeing three defenders injured: a right full-back Conor Bradley, a centre-back with Giovanni Leoni and a player that can play at centre-back Wataru Endo.

"And [some] of the players I'm of course worried about again for tomorrow will be Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez.

"So yes, it's the best that it has been this season. I think when you look at our bench against Paris Saint-Germain, it's the best bench we've had throughout the whole season. But sometimes things don't look as good as they might be, if you don't understand what I just tried to explain."

Alexander Isak made his return from a three-month lay-off at PSG in midweek.

Having recovered from an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture, the striker was introduced to the affair as a substitute in the 79th minute.

Slot continued: "Now we don't get a player back yet but Alisson is working hard to find his way back into the squad, so that's really positive. But he will not be in the squad this weekend yet.

"That Alex is available for us again is vital of course because I said many times over here that it was hard for us to convert the chances into goals and he's been a goalscorer his whole life now. We did not get a chance against Paris but in all the other games we've had many chances.

"So to have him back is really nice. It was only 15 minutes but it's good to have him back. Hopefully we can progress those minutes and he can grow to his form as soon as possible.

"The last time of course it took him a while – which is completely normal – but now we are hoping that after the great rehab he already had, with the people we are having in rehab, that we can bring him faster to the level we want him to be at."

Fulham, meanwhile, will arrive on Merseyside definitely without Kevin, Kenny Tete and Harrison Reed.

Defender Calvin Bassey has been declared fit after he withdrew from the Nigeria squad in the recent international break with a back issue.

"We have another session tomorrow but the players right now we consider them to be out are Kevin, Kenny and Harrison Reed," Silva said on Thursday.

The Cottagers were not in Emirates FA Cup action last weekend and therefore will have had a 21-day gap in between matches.

Their Portuguese boss said: "It's a rare situation for us when you are going to prepare yourself for the end of the season, the last seven games, and we are three weeks without a game. It's a long period.

"Of course not for all and that's a good sign for us as a football club that we had 13 players with international duties with their countries – that is a good sign.

"On the other side of it, plus the injured players, the group was really, really short in terms of numbers that we were preparing ourselves for the last 15 days. This week has been a normal week for us so far and a very good week."
