TransferLiverpool FC Women complete signing of Mari Ward
Liverpool FC Women have completed the signing of Mari Ward.
Ward, a 20-year-old full-back capped at U23 level by England, joins the Reds following the expiry of her contract at Bristol City.
She is the third new addition to Gareth Taylor’s squad ahead of 2026-27, following the deals to bring in Sara Agrez and Vivien Endemann.
After putting pen to paper on her contract, Ward told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m so excited. Liverpool is such a huge club with such a big history.
“So, to be a Liverpool player now is really special.
“I can’t wait to put on the Liverpool shirt for the first time. It’s going to be so special. And to walk out as a Liverpool player, it’s still unreal to even think about it. I can’t wait for that moment.”
Ward started 21 of Bristol City’s 22 Barclays Women’s Super League 2 games last season as the Robins finished fourth in the second tier.
She played mainly at left-back in 2025-26 but can also operate on the right of defence and, despite her young age, arrives at Liverpool with significant experience in senior football.
After joining from Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 2022, Ward went on to make 86 appearances and score six goals for Bristol City and helped the Robins win the second-tier title in 2022-23.
Top-flight exposure followed when, as a teenager, she made 21 WSL appearances in 2023-24.
Ward made her debut for England U23s in October 2025 and has also represented her country at U17, U19 and U20 levels.
She will wear No.28 for the Reds.
