'I'm really happy' - Lewis Koumas on UCL goal, LASK, Barcola hat-trick and more
Lewis Koumas reflected on a pleasing night for both himself and Liverpool following Wednesday's 6-3 victory over LASK in the Champions League.

Andoni Iraola’s side made it two wins from two in the competition at Raiffeisen Arena as nine goals were shared between the teams in Austria.
Koumas started and got himself on the scoresheet as he struck his first goal of the 2026-27 campaign, which came alongside an impressive Bradley Barcola hat-trick and headers from Ronald Araujo and Jeremie Frimpong.
Following the win, read what the forward had to say to Liverpoolfc.com post-match below…
On the victory over LASK...
It's a good win but ultimately [it was about] the reaction from the last game to try and bounce back. I thought we did that well and we need to try and take that into the weekend now.
On whether scoring his goal is the highlight of his season so far...
It sums everything up to be honest! It's nice to get a goal in this competition - the highest level of football. I'm really happy.
On his mindset as a striker to keep going after having two goals earlier disallowed...
I think it's important as a striker... you can't dwell on the misses or the chances that you get and don't take. The two were offside and I was just waiting for the next one to come - and it came really late on. That's why it's important to keep level-headed.
On the goal he scored...
Jeremie has got it out of his feet and crossed and it's taken a bounce. I've just focused on the contact and getting it on target. I've done that and it's gone through his [the goalkeeper’s] legs.
On what was going through his mind as he celebrated...
It was just that I've realised I've scored in the Champions League. It was pretty crazy! I've just run off and spent the moment with them [the fans].
On being happy for Barcola scoring a hat-trick...
I think it's been really hard for him - not in terms of on the pitch because in the changing room we all know how good he is. But moving country and trying to settle in fast is tough. I found it tough on loan so changing country completely must be something else. I'm just really happy that's he's shown how good he is tonight. Hopefully he just carries on doing it now.
On seeing Barcola's confidence grow in the game...
He's unbelievable. He's an unbelievable talent and I'm sure he'll be unreal for Liverpool.
On the goals Liverpool conceded...
That's football. I think we really wanted the clean sheet but sometimes we've just got to see the game out and win - we're really happy we've done that.
