Jeremy Jacquet is enjoying the intensity of the Premier League and is prepared for another ‘battle’ at Brentford on Saturday.

The centre-back has been in the XI for all six of Liverpool’s top-flight games so far this season while making an impressive start to life in England.

Nominated for the division’s Player of the Month award in September, he was confirmed as the Reds’ star man overall for the opening weeks of 2026-27 on Friday.

"The manager has already told us that it's going to be a battle all over the field... I'll be trying hard to keep performance levels high."

Having won at LASK in the Champions League in midweek, Andoni Iraola’s team now travel to Gtech Community Stadium to face the Bees.

And Jacquet stressed the importance of responding to the defeat by Manchester City last time out in the Premier League.

“It’s going to be a big game for us,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “The manager has already told us that it’s going to be a battle all over the field.

“However, we’ve been working hard in training, even though time has been a bit short. And we will be ready for tomorrow.

“I think that we’ve already shown how we can bounce back over in Austria but now it’s important to get back to winning ways, this time in the Premier League.”

On a personal level, Jacquet is determined to maintain the quality of displays that have earned him plaudits since arriving at Anfield.

He continued: “I hope I can remain in this decent run of form. Things have been going well up to now, even though it’s still only early in the season.

“I’ll be trying hard to keep performance levels high.

“There are quite a few differences [playing in the Premier League] really. But I find that the biggest difference of all is the intensity of the duels and individual battles.

“Not the general intensity throughout the whole match but rather I’d say there are more one-on-one battles to contend with during the 90 minutes.”

The No.5’s recent positive experiences included a first opportunity to represent France on the senior international stage.

Jacquet started two of Les Bleus’ fixtures during the past international window and was the subject of particular praise from coach Zinedine Zidane.

“It was a massive thing for me,” said the 21-year-old. “Especially as I also got to make the starting XI, playing at home in the Stade de France.

“I don’t think it gets much better really, for me as a Frenchman, than playing in front of your whole nation. It was a magical moment.”
