A goalscoring quirk produced by Hugo Ekitike has been confirmed as a first in Liverpool FC history.

The summer signing from Eintracht Frankfurt has netted on six separate occasions for the Reds since his arrival.

Each of those goals have come on a different day of the week.

His first against Crystal Palace was on a Sunday in the FA Community Shield, followed by Premier League strikes versus AFC Bournemouth on a Friday and Newcastle United on a Monday.

A Saturday goal came in the Merseyside derby and the next Tuesday he was on target past Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

And last month, he netted against former club Eintracht on a Wednesday.

LFC statistician Ged Rea confirmed Ekitike is the first Liverpool player ever to score each of his first six goals on a different weekday.
