Federico Chiesa opened up on a range of different topics during a new ‘Ask Me Anything’ interview that included his first football idol, Premier League title joy and… passion for physics.

The Liverpool forward sat down with Sky Sports to field questions submitted by fans online - read a summary of his answers below.

On his favourite moment at Liverpool so far…

Winning the Premier League. It was so special because it was my first championship. Even though I didn’t play that much last year, winning it at Liverpool for Liverpool, playing with amazing players, it was just amazing. Even though I didn’t participate that much, but I was glad I won that trophy.

On Mohamed Salah…

Of course Mo is a fantastic player, he is a world-class player - he has shown that for several years now in the Premier League, which is so difficult to play in, the Premier League. Last year, the goals he scored.

On his relationship with Liverpool fans and how that feels after joining a new club…

That’s what you hope for. Last year I didn’t play that much so having this support back from the fans was a good reason to try to give more, which I do on a daily basis, but having the support from the fans at your back helps you to give more. I think they like me because I do give my best; every time I play, I try to give my best. I think I show it. I’m happy.

On who would feature on his ‘Italian football Mount Rushmore’…

Oh my days! I’ll go [Paolo] Maldini, [Roberto] Baggio. I have to say a ’keeper… [Gianluigi] Buffon. Let’s go for a midfielder… [Andrea] Pirlo.

On whether he had an idol growing up…

Yeah, I did, it was Kaka. Because I liked to watch AC Milan when I was growing up, with my father. I was just looking at Milan and I fell in love with Kaka.

On what he would be doing if he wasn’t a footballer…

I would have kept on studying at uni. I did drop. I went for sport science and then I dropped, I didn’t finish it. But I would have gone for something like physics. Physics is top. Studying the universe, something like that, because I’m really interested in that.

On Florian Wirtz…

He is one of the best players I have ever seen on the ball. The way he controls the ball, the way he touches the ball is just world-class. Of course he has everything to be a success at Liverpool, there’s nothing holding him back. He came from another league, he has to have some time, that is normal. But the player is just amazing from what I’ve seen.
