Harvey Elliott revelled in winning the U21 European Championship again after playing a key role in England's latest triumph.

The Young Lions retained the trophy with a 3-2 victory over Germany following extra-time in Saturday night's final.

Elliott opened the scoring in the showpiece in Slovakia inside five minutes, with clubmate Tyler Morton going on to deliver the assist for Jonathan Rowe's winner.

Liverpool's No.19 was part of Lee Carsley's side that won the competition in 2023, and described his emotions at tasting success for the second time.

He told Channel 4 post-match: "It's another incredible moment. This one meant a lot more, especially coming off the back of winning it last time.

"There were big expectations, big pressure but the way the lads handled it from start to finish of this tournament, I think no-one deserves it more than us.

"It's time to celebrate because it's been hard work, tiring with the heat, with everything involved. But it's party time now and we're going to make the most of it."

Elliott was ever-present in this summer's edition and dazzled by scoring five goals from his six appearances.

He was duly named the Player of the Tournament and described as his team's 'most effective player from the first game onwards' by UEFA's Technical Observer Group.

Elliott is now targeting a call-up to the England senior side, having delivered his impressive showing in Saturday's final in front of head coach Thomas Tuchel.

"It's never going to be easy because of the talent that's in the team – world-class players from top to bottom," the 22-year-old continued.

"It's never going to be easy, as I said, but it's just about me working hard, trying to show it at club level and hopefully getting the opportunity.

"We're thankful for him coming out here to support us and hopefully we put on a show for him. It's just one of them, we need to wait and see."
