Alexis Mac Allister conceded mistakes cost Liverpool dearly during Sunday's defeat at Fulham – but believes Arne Slot's side will 'come back stronger'.

The Reds were beaten 3-2 at Craven Cottage, just their second loss in the Premier League so far this season.

The visitors initially went ahead through Mac Allister's stunning driven finish from outside the area in minute 14, though saw Fulham score through Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz in quick succession to take control at half-time.

Luis Diaz stepped off the bench in the second period to reduce the deficit with 18 minutes remaining and give Liverpool hope at the finish.

However, Slot's men could not produce an equaliser, despite going close via substitutes Harvey Elliott - who struck the crossbar - and Federico Chiesa late on.

Post-match, Mac Allister spoke to Liverpoolfc.com. Read our interview in full below…

On the defeat...

I think in the first half we had 25 or 30 minutes where we couldn't find ourselves. We made a lot of mistakes that we normally don't do. That's why we lost this game. They scored three goals, we got punished and after it was really hard to come back.

On struggling to get control of the game after conceding...

When you get to this stage of the tournament every mistake you do is hard and you get punished. I'm pretty sure that we have a team where we have a lot of players with experience. Today wasn't a good experience. But I'm pretty sure we will come back stronger and in the next game we will show what we can do.

On whether Liverpool struggled to deal with Fulham's 'aggression' in the game...

They have really strong players and big players. I think the team, in terms of attitude and physicality, we were there. I don't think that was the problem, but it's clear that we made decisions wrong and that we made mistakes and that's why we lost this game.

On there still being plenty of work to do in the Premier League...

I think there is going to be a lot of people saying that this Premier League is done, but in the dressing room we know that it's not. We still have a lot of games coming up and all of them are really difficult in a league like this. Everyone is fighting for something. We have to make sure that we play the way we know and play the way we want and not make the mistakes we've done today.
